Personal Information

Ms. Margarida Marques is Member of the European Parliament since July 2019, Vice Chair of the Budgets Committee and the current co-rapporteur on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. Before joining, the European Parliament, Mrs Marques was Vice-Chair of the Committee on European Affairs, Member of the Budgetary and Administrative Modernisation Committee and of the Temporary Monitoring Committee for the Negotiations on the MFF 2021-2027 at the Portuguese Parliament. Between 2015 and 2017, she was State Secretary for European Affairs of the Portuguese Government. Mrs Marques was a Commission official from 1991 until 2015 and was Head of the European Commission Representation in Portugal between 2005 and 2011. Prior to this, Mrs Marques was a public servant in the Portuguese Public Administration where she held various management and non-management positions. She holds a degree in Mathematics – Statistics from the University of Lisbon Sciences Faculty, and a Master Degree in Education Sciences from New University of Lisbon, Faculty of Sciences and Technology. She has been a lecturer at various Universities in Lisbon, namely at ISCTE.
