Katerina Balta is an Evaluation Officer in the Operations Evaluation Division of the European Investment Bank (EIB), where she contributes to the independent evaluation of EIB activities and their contribution to EU policy objectives. Katerina has so far been a core team member for two complex thematic evaluations: the Evaluation of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), completed in 2018, and the ongoing Evaluation of EIB Cohesion lending. She is also coordinating the participation of the EIB’s Evaluation Division in international forums such as the Evaluation Cooperation Group, which brings together the evaluation departments of the largest MDBs and IFIs, and the OECD-DAC Evaluation Network. Katerina has extensive professional experience in EU institutions, as prior to the EIB she worked in the European Commission, DG International Cooperation and Development as an Expert on results monitoring systems for international development projects. Before that, she worked in management consulting in Greece, contributing to evaluation projects for the European Commission, DG Agriculture and Rural Development. Katerina holds a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) and an MSc in Political Economy, both from the University of Essex.
