Fanni Virag is a former Atlanticist Fellow at the Washington based Atlantic Council’s Future Europe Initiative. Her interests include US-Central European engagement, energy security, advanced energy and technologies.
Fanni has a strong background in diplomacy along with commercial and energy markets. She was a sales and client relationship manager on European energy markets at KELER Group, the sole securities depository and clearing bank in Hungary. There she specialized in energy trading and exchanges and became a country expert of Central and South Eastern Europe. She has also worked for the Slovenian-Hungarian Business Association, and for Energy Financing Team Group, a European energy trading and investment firm.
Prior to her work in the private sector, she served as an Economic and Cultural Affairs Officer at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia. She has also served as the Head of Secretariat and Personal Assistant to the Ambassador while at the Embassy.
Fanni received her MA in Slavic studies and a BA in Croatian and Slovenian Language and Literature from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. During her studies she lived in Zagreb, Croatia and in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from Szent István University in Hungary. She speaks English, Slovenian, Serbian and Croatian.
She currently works for V4SDG, Visegrad for Sustainability as a Country Group Officer and responsible for external relations.
